Tyler Posted November 18, 2016 Share Posted November 18, 2016 Hello I have a 1988 e150 van I've owned it for about 3 months so don't know much about it it's a 351 v8 5.8 , 3 spd auto with over drive. The van has always seemed pretty sluggish to me then again the have only goes to 85 but recently it has been randomly delaying shifting in all gears including reverse not constantly and more often when it's cold any ideas? Administrators Moses Ludel Posted November 18, 2016 Administrators Share Posted November 18, 2016 Tyler...I would do a routine transmission service, new filter, gasket and fresh ATF/fluid. The cold performance could be poor oil pickup due to a dirty transmission filter. There is a laundry list of other possibilities, but that is the place I would start.
