  1. I checked the ventilation filter, I discovered the filter was in the wrong position. I think this was the issue at hand. it also looks like the gromit at part #5 looks like it has failed and leaks really bad.
  2. I had already swapped part #5 probably 3 weeks ago (I still wouldn't rule it out) but I have not looked at the filter. What should I look for when I check part #6?
  3. Thank you. That helped figure out what the clog is, its been very cold out and the oil that's in the has been gelling up. I couldn't find any real clogs yet. I have yet to check the lines by the charcoal canister.
  4. Thank you Moses. That would explain why the oil cap sprung a leak and why even after a valve cover gasket replacement last spring, that also sprung a leak. I want to say the leak is coming from (correct me if I'm wrong) the pcv out or the one on the front of the engine. My question is where do look first?
  5. lately I've been having issues with my 1990 jeep wrangler 2.5l engine, I think literally squirting oil from somewhere. Its enough to run down the side of the finder! I've noticed the pattern that it does this when its cold out and I don't let it warm up completely. I know that's bad of me but its only sat for 2-3 hours in 10 and under degrees. I suspect the pcv is to blame but I cant find anywhere on how to confirm my suspicions. Ive had great luck on here when I my self am utterly baffled. Any who has had this issue or Moses if you've got any ideas where to look let me know! pictures to come later
  6. Thanks Moses, you confirmed what my brother said. I think I'll just leave it as is for right now. There's more important issues that has come up over this winter.
  7. I am currently looking into adding air conditioning to my 1990 jeep wrangler with the 2.5l, tbi injected. I wonder if it would be even worth doing so, it gets hot out here sometimes and having the top down is a bad idea. I don't even know if they had ac for the 4cyl with v belts. I have located the vents that line the bottom of the dash that contains some of the ac components. I'm not too familiar with ac work either but my brother is so he will help me. Any one have any ideas or knowledge on these old ac systems let me know!
  8. A new key in ignition switch. I remember messing around with it once when I replaced the ignition tube, Its located deep in the column. In theory, after swapping them it should work.
  9. I had a snap on vantage with the rpm pick up hooked up to the cylinder one plug wire. It looks like the tach is accurate. The scanner is off by 400 rpms. Could this signify a bad ecu?
  10. Hello everyone, I have the best luck finding useful tips and information for things that are over my head. I have noticed a huge difference in what the tachometer reads verses what the scanner says. I looked all every where for a proceedure on how to test go about on figuring out why the readings are so different. Could my ecu have a problem?
  11. I have found the progblem, there is a "key in ignition switch" which completes the ground when the key is inserted into the tube.
  12. I removed the jamb switch and cleaned the contacts and and the ground connection on the witch and checked the resistance, The switch is good but still nothing, it only buzzes for the seatbelt but not when the key is in the ignition.
  13. I tested for resistance at #6 and a ground and its good. i then took a pice of wire and jammed it behind the connector #3 and I put it on a ground and checked for resistance and it was good. I then hooked up the buzzer and it still didn't go off with the door open. Is either the switch bad or the buzzer its self?
  14. I tested for voltage again at terminal one after cleaning the fuse and it has battery voltage now. same with terminal #7. I tested the ground at #3 and I put the ground at a chassis ground on the column, and I couldn't get it to show anything on the meter. is the ground the problem?
  15. The buzzer doesnt come on any more when I put the keys in the ignition and the door is open. Same with the headlights! Is there a way to test the buzzer and its connector?
  16. Try turning the steering wheel from lock to lock and see if that brings the idle down. I'm not sure what it means but when mine used to do it before I finally got the adjustment right (the scanner wasn't giving the right rpm value). Keep us posted!
  17. The oil pressure is good but its sort of all over the place but its not to the point where I cant tell where its at. I got that $5 stethoscope from harbor freight and it does sound like its from the timing chain . Also when its cold like I go to start it in the morning it wont make any noise. When i did the timing chain I just took off the tensioner from that bracket and swapped them out when the kit had the new tensioner on the bracket.
  18. I replaced the timing chain almost a year ago thinking that would fix the problem. I don't know if I did something wrong or oil must not be getting to it or something is up. I still have the old chain and tensioner
  19. I'll try the video again. It's made this noise for 4 years and hasn't blown yet. When it's cold like the first start of the day it'll be quiet with no noise till after it warmed up
  20. the needle wobbles or shakes all over the place. its not very consistent. but its close enough to where you can tell what the pressure is. I had my brother take it to his collage and the instructor there was saying it was coming from the bottom front of the engine, they used some sort of sonar thing. is there a way I can post videos on here?
  21. Its that era where for some reason theres no check engine light. It all of a sudden has a reading now. The ecu might have been from a salvage yard
