Joel
Hi, I can't get the engine to get warm, and another problem is no heat inside the car. When driving for maybe 10 minutes the engine temp is 45 degrees. Any ideas?
Administrators Moses Ludel Posted November 14, 2014 Administrators Share Posted November 14, 2014 Hi, Joel...This sounds like a classic case of a cooling system thermostat stuck open. If so, the simple fix is to replace the thermostat. Obviously, this is a good time to flush the cooling system if necessary. Make sure there is adequate anti-freeze in the system and that it has circulated thoroughly through the engine, radiator and heater core. I'm guessing that you're in a cold climate. The 2.5L diesel in a 1997 model Jeep must be at Europe or an export model. This engine was not a U.S. market option. You're lucky to have a diesel XJ Cherokee! Can you share details about the performance level of your Cherokee? Let us know if the thermostat cures the cold engine and no heater issue...If you need parts illustrations or part numbers, we can provide them!
