  1. I like the high hood. The Willy's will have the '74 drivetrain but everything else as original as I can. I only have the T90 and Tcase. I do want to put the skinny tires on it and wait for some kid to pull up at a light and then smoke the tires-hahaha. My CJ8-they only made something like 27K and there are many missing/gons to it is rarer than many models out there. The other Cj's are staying some what stock but I keep all the original parts for my great grand kids (that is if my kids ever get married). I don't think I will do any body work, it's clean, but has some bumps and bruises and that's cool Stay tuned-winter project.
  2. I have a Willy's axle under uit right now and that has 10" brakes. Some have suggested getting a trailer axle w/5x5.5 pattern and electric brakes which sounds good. Just have to finish it and then take the tub off for paint. I think I am going to paint it Tan and the Willy's Tan since I have a OD Jeep already but that is still up in the air. I would really like to leave the bumps and bruises on the trailer and the Willy's-adds character I think. Stay tuned
  3. Thank you-yes a lot to consider and I will subscribe to the post in question. I have a edelbrock intake and a 4bbl carb w/mechanical secondaries for now. I would really like to keep the D300, maybe after looking at all this it might be easier to install a 4" lift and use the 727 with the D300 bolted up behind it. The 727 & TF999 should be the same length so my custom rear driveshaft should still work along w/my front. Thanks again and your books are a big help-I even have one for the kids. Jim
  4. '48 Willys trailer being constructed to date. Using some 3/4" .095 square tubing and metal for the front to make corners to match the rear etc. 2" ball and will add a 1" DayStar body lift (have in stock). Used front bumper for rear bumper. After I get it all done, I will tare it down to paint/install new bolts, BL etc. Note: this Willy's was sitting on a CJ5 frame. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/zyza4a5e.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/y3ybe5a8.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/9edapeqy.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/a9yda6ed.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/my2yse7e.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/eta5a4uj.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/10/05/e8a4u9a3.jpg
  5. More pics soon. I have two Willys and this one is pretty bad. I'm going to build a trailer out of the rear of this Willys. I am also thinking of keeping the rear axle there for now. I was thinking about adding brakes (don't really need to) to help on some down hill adventures. What do you think ? Thanks, Jim http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/14/y5ere3uh.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/14/saha7y9u.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/14/a4ereqa9.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/14/ypanuvy3.jpg
  6. I have a '48 Willy's that I am going to outfit (I think) w/a AMC 304/T-15/D20 setup. I have the original axles (5.38's) and frame. I also have another '48 frame w/ early 70's axles (11" drums) and some mods to the frame. I will probably use the later setup w/the v8. Now for this winter project to start soon after I finish a few others. More pics later when the build starts. P.S. I will not be keeping the SOA setup. Thanks, Jim
  7. Thank Rare CJ8 for the invite and thanks for the books Moses I'm Jim and here is my Jeep in question. '84 CJ8; AMC 360; TF-999; D-300; D30/D44 My gallery: http://www.street2mud.com/gallery/albums.php --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok it have been thinking and I need a lot of help to get things lined up to see if it is feasible to do. I would like to beef up my CJ8 and go the least expensive route I can of course, but that isn't always the easiest thing to do. I have a '85 Waggy that we pulled the 360 and put it in the '74 CJ5 and the rest of the vehicle is there, 100%. It has a 727 (I think); 209 T-case (I think) D44 F/R (I think); (3.31GR). Sorry, not a Waggy guy. 1. I will use the Waggy DShafts if I can't use the CJ8's for temporary (rear DS). 2. Is there a spring outboard kit? The CJ frame is 28" (CL) and the Waggy is 32" (CL). 3. How much is involved if I want to cut down the axle? (A friend of mine can machine the axle shafts (cut them down/re-spline them) and cut the axle down, just down time/check his schedule. 4. Will the steering shaft from the CJ work with the Waggy front/length/stock Waggy width or will the steering column from the Waggy have to be used and if so, will it work in the CJ? 5. Will the DSide drop axle work w/the tranny 727/t-case without clearence issues inside the CJ frame (i.e) ? 6. The rear axle should work with new perches welded? 7. Will the Waggy's brake booster/MC work in the CJ8? 8. Is it really worth it, seeing the Waggy axle has a 3.31 gear ratio? 9. I do have a set of 3.73 gears in the garage but they are for the D30/D44 CJ axles. 10. ???? Pics below are of the Waggy's front end. Thanks for the help, Jim
