 How are You Happy New Year...Can i ask your recommendation, . What model year cherokee xj that will fit for me for daily driving and sometimes off roading but not extreme. is the mnaul trans is  good or  automatic ? please advice me Thanks

Mario...The 1998-1999 or even the 1991-97 models seem to hold up very well.  Both 4.0L and 2.5L are MPI and reliable.  2000-2001 are okay, many get good service from them, too.  I'm partial to 1998-99 from my experience.

Both the manual and automatic transmissions are very reliable.  The manual transmission for these years is either an AX5 (2.5L) or AX15 (4.0L).  (2000-2001 use the NV3550, it's just okay and parts are scarce. Many replace the NV3550 with an AX15.)  The automatic is an AW4 Aisin, very reliable and well built.

If this helps we have a '96 Country with 252k on it and still going strong.  4.0, AW4 3.73 gears.  Mostly road miles but some off road miles in there too.
