Carrying a Safety Kit

flamntires...For an AWD Forester, it depends upon where you travel and how much risk is involved.  Your new "kit" would be good for highway use or getting stranded on the road during a blizzard or breakdown.  For back country travel there would be more emphasis on overnight safety and protecting yourself when in a remote area.

Plenty of fresh water, some nutritious food packages and a means for building a safe campfire would be wise.  A signal mirror or means for attracting help from air traffic would be sensible.  A quality, full-size spare tire would be practical with a safe jack and tools for easily changing a wheel/tire on rough terrain.

These are basics, you can expand from there.
