I have been traveling, working and exploring at Northern Nevada since the 'sixties. Elko County is a spectacular region, and Interstate 80 runs by the town. Just west of Elko, at Exit 292, is a public museum built with joint resources from the U.S. BLM, Elko County and the City of Elko...West of Elko, Nevada, the California Trail Interpretive Center offers historical and cultural insight into the westward migration of the American Pioneers. Equally interesting is the history and cultural look into the lives of Native American peoples that inhabited the Great Plains and the Great Basin. Artifacts, lifelike displays and glimpses into the terrain and challenges provide a wholly immersive experience. Located within view of the Humboldt River, eight miles west of Elko at I-80 exit 292, the museum is a key landmark and vital resource for understanding the many of the trails West. The publicly and privately funded U.S. BLM, City of Elko and Elko County joint venture interpretive site and museum serve all age groups and interest levels. Traveling I-80 across Nevada? Be sure to visit the California Trail Interpretive Center! For more details on the California Trail Interpretive Center, visit the website at: http://www.californiatrailcenter.org/
