I have a problem with accelerator lurching at crawling speeds since I installed my MPI/EFI conversion kit to my 4.2 six. I thought I recalled seeing a remedy for this in my Ludel's CJ rebuilders manual but for the life of me I can't find it. Any suggestions?
Hello. I'm new to the forum. I have an 82 CJ7 with a fresh rebuild 258 and the Hesco MPI installed by myself. At low power the engine runs fine. But under load, say going uphill or when giving a sudden throttle input in a higher gear, the engine begins to misfire or cut out as though one or more cylinders are not firing. If I ease up on the throttle it recovers. If not it shudders pretty bad until I do. If I go easy on the throttle the problem does not occur. Only under load. At cruise speed on the freeway it mostly runs good, but occasionally I do feel a slight power loss as though I am dragging a cylinder. The plugs are clean so I don't suspect an ignition issue. It acts like its running out of gas. Thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. Lou
I am the owner of a 1986 CJ7 I had everything rebuilt carburetor generator radiator blah blah blah put in a rebuilt motor I purchased. Wasn’t happy with carburetion so I added a Howell electronic feel ignition system . Now it runs great spontaneously it will start acting like it’s starving for fuel, check engine light coming on permanently or flashing at different times I can pretty much always do the speed limit and drive it but it will not always perform well
I recently became the owner of a 1982 CJ8 with a 4.2. I have installed a HEI distributor, Holley Sniper BBD fuel injection on the jeep. I have replaced oil pan, rear main seal and valve cover gaskets in an attempt to stop the oil leaks but the rear main leak has gotten the best of my patience. The body is rough but serviceable and the engine runs ok but leaves a lot to be desired in the get up and go department. I would like to build a stroker engine and stay with a Jeep six cylinder. I would like to know if I can use the HEI distributor and fuel injection that I already have on a 4.6 build.
