Administrators Moses Ludel Posted March 30, 2013 Administrators Share Posted March 30, 2013 In 1984, AMC/Jeep® took its unitized body and 4x4 technology into the XJ Cherokee platform. This breakthrough compact SUV became the best selling model of its era and made the AMC sale to Chrysler profitable. These models and the subsequent Jeep ZJ and WJ Grand Cherokees feature beam axles front and rear, two-speed transfer cases and rugged engine packages, making them candidates for off-road upgrades and 4x4 trail use...Welcome to the XJ Cherokee and ZJ/WJ Grand Cherokee community at 4WD Mechanix Magazine!—Moses Ludel At left is a ZJ Grand Cherokee equipped to tackle the Moab Area BFE course! Kazu
ZJ Grand Cherokee 5.2 L in 1997. I have a problem and I wonder if it has happened to someone ... The ball joint is damaged, but when trying to put new, were handily, while they were installed, they were just fine.

rockosocko
OK, jumping in with both feet 'mudding' up the waters.. Just under Memphis, Tn. Doing a '95 Jeep 5.2 decked to zero with EQ heads and reground cam in a 88 Mitsubishi 1-ton long bed mighty max, with Toyota front hub swap, rear axle swap (3.73) out back Should be FUN.. Then have a '67 M-715 shell that I planned to use a '74 J10's drive train/cab on. (but have listed the M up for sale) And the said, '74 J10, 360, th400 and cable QT. Soon to be a long shaft th400 swapped in for just a 2wd. My needs don't require a 4wd, so keep you're flaming to yourself. Next is a 70's Cherokee 2dr swapped to 2wd, lowered tastefully, later model staggered 17's/18's respectively, running a stroked 4.0 with ITB's and fuel injection, A518 OD, COLD air cond.. The ITB's are a brain-storm from this build.. Just a I-6 instead of a V8. (HEY.. stay with me, don't flame. Just use an open mechanical/machinist/fabricating mind) I'm imagining a balanced to maybe 1g, rotating assy. (with front underdrive pulley, converter/flexplate) winding out to 8000rpm I wonder if they make roller cams yet?? BOY, I bet that would sound neat! Its' only aluminum and flowing AIR!..(for the ITB's that is) https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=Do%20the%20jeep%204.0%20motors%20have%20roller%20cams http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?234332-Roller-cam-for-4-0L Errol
Administrators Moses Ludel Posted June 25, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted June 25, 2014 Errol...The ITB multi-TBI units is a unique idea. I watched your video thoroughly, and you're doing a well thought out induction and fuel delivery system...I like the attention to detail features like the plate transitions and the progressive throttle linkage! Of course, this could be dialed with bench flow testing and finish porting, but it's apparent that you're onto a very potent induction system! The custom manifold runners look unrestricted, this is a major fuel/air flow gain. Sync'ing ITBs is crucial, much like running multiple carburetors only in this case it's throttle position switches (TPS) and throttle valves instead of just throttle valves... I am very curious how this works for a 4.0L inline six. MPI alone meant a 50 horsepower jump over stock 2-barrel carburetion for the 4.2L Jeep/Mopar EFI conversion, and that is a single throttle body...Much potential here, keep us posted, Errol! Please start a topic on the 4.0L engine build at either the Jeep Wrangler or XJ/ZJ/WJ forum! Note the gains from a 4.2L crankshaft conversion to boost displacement to 4.6L. Lots of 4.6L coverage at the forums and the magazine site. Moses
