Using the right filler rod and technique, TIG process holds the best outcome for restoring a heavy iron casting.  Weld Mold Company's 700 and 750 filler rods were key to this large casting repair.  If you work with castings that cannot be replaced, and time is not an issue, enjoy this classic live lecture and slideshow captured at the 2011 Spring Midwest Willys Reunion.  As the guest speaker, I focused on a variety of restoration topics.  Cast iron repair work was high on the Willys/Jeep owners' list of priorities!  Click here for access to the slideshow and lecture.

If you have a gear or iron transmission casting that needs repair, you'll find this article and slideshow video helpful, too: http://www.4wdmechanix.com/Gear-and-Transmission-Case-Restoration?r=1.  Pay close attention to my comments on case hardening, "normalizing" versus annealing, and heat treating.
